My Experience
This was my first government project and my first time leading a large, multidisciplinary team under shifting requirements and tight budgets. I learned to adapt quickly, bring structure to ambiguity, and keep momentum as scopes evolved week after week. Guiding undergrads, experimenting with new tools, and using AI to accelerate workflows strengthened my leadership and systems-thinking skills, and reinforced how much I enjoy building, learning, and leading alongside a team.
What I had to navigate
We worked under tight timelines, shifting scopes, and a broad project mandate. I navigated last-minute pivots, developed concepts on the fly, and managed a team with diverse working styles. This project expanded my practice beyond UX into spatial thinking, combining interior design and user experience to create cohesive, human-centered environments. I also played an active role in guiding the UX team, shaping brainstorming sessions and directing key design decisions.
